The Polaroid Core Pld2050 Sunglasses deliver classic rectangular style and genuine polarized protection at a price that makes sense. Built with a full-rim acetate frame in a clean black finish, these men’s sunglasses pair a 55mm lens width with a comfortable 15mm bridge and 140mm temples—proportions that work for medium to larger face shapes without feeling oversized.
Polaroid didn’t just license the name—they invented polarization technology back in 1929. The gray polarized lenses in the PLD2050 use vertically aligned filters to block horizontal glare from water, roads, and reflective surfaces, giving you clearer vision when you’re driving, fishing, or just dealing with bright conditions. You get 100% UV400 protection against UVA and UVB rays, which cuts down on squinting and eye fatigue during long days outdoors. The lenses maintain accurate color perception instead of just making everything darker, so you see the world as it actually looks.
These frames are prescription-ready, so you can add your Rx and turn them into everyday sunglasses. The lightweight acetate construction holds up to daily wear without the weight of cheaper plastic frames, and the full-rim design keeps lenses secure. The temples curve gently inward and widen at the tips for a stable fit behind the ears—a small detail that keeps them from sliding when you move.
At this price point, the PLD2050 competes with generic brands that skip the polarization or use inferior coatings. Polaroid Core brings the brand’s lens technology to an affordable frame, making it a practical choice if you need reliable sun protection without the markup of premium labels.
