Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing, prescription, authenticity, delivery and return questions about designer eyeglasses, sunglasses and optical frames at DesignerGlassesCo.

Choosing a frame

How do I read the frame measurements in the title and specs?

The three numbers follow the industry convention: lens width, bridge width and temple length, all in millimetres. A frame listed as 54-18-145 has 54 mm lenses, an 18 mm bridge and 145 mm arms. If you already own a pair that fits well, read the stamp on the inside of the temple and match those figures rather than guessing from a photo.

Can prescription lenses be fitted into the frames you sell?

Every optical frame listed here is supplied as a frame only, unless the title explicitly names a lens type. Any licensed optician can glaze them, and the product page lists the lens width and height so your optician can confirm the blank size before ordering. Prescription sunglasses are sold as frames as well and accept tinted or polarised lenses.

What is the difference between eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses and sunglasses on this site?

Eyeglasses are optical frames built for clear prescription lenses. Prescription sunglasses are the same optical construction with a sunglass-shaped front, ready to be glazed with tinted or polarised lenses. Sunglasses ship with the manufacturer lens already fitted and are not intended to be reglazed in most cases.

Are these genuine designer frames or replicas?

All frames are authentic stock from the licensed brands named in the listing. Each product page shows the manufacturer model number and colour code, which you can cross-check against the brand catalogue. Serial numbers, laser etching and packaging details vary by brand and by production year, so we quote the model reference rather than promising a fixed packaging format.

Fit, shape and materials

How do I know which frame shape suits my face?

Choose the opposite of your face shape rather than a match. Angular faces read best with round, oval or cat-eye fronts, while soft or round faces gain definition from square and rectangular fronts. Frame depth matters as much as shape: a shallow lens suits a short face, a deeper lens balances a longer one.

What do the material and rim type fields mean?

Acetate is a plant-based plastic that can be polished and adjusted with heat and holds colour well. Metal and titanium frames are lighter and thinner but have less adjustment range at the temples. Full rim means the lens is enclosed all round, semi-rimless holds it with a nylon cord along the bottom, and rimless mounts the lens directly onto the bridge and temples.

How long does delivery take?

In-stock frames leave our warehouse within 1–2 business days. Ground transit inside the contiguous United States usually runs two to five business days depending on how far the destination is from our depot. A tracking number is emailed the moment the carrier scans the parcel, and frames travel in a rigid box rather than a padded envelope.

Delivery, returns and warranty

When does shipping become free?

Standard ground shipping is free on orders over $58 delivered inside the United States. Below that amount a flat rate applies, which is calculated and displayed at checkout before any payment is taken.

Do you deliver outside the United States?

Checkout currently accepts United States addresses only. Cross-border eyewear carries duty, import tax and carrier restrictions that differ sharply between countries, and quoting them reliably is not something we can do at the moment.

Can I cancel or amend an order once it is placed?

Message us immediately and we will intercept the order if it has not yet been picked. Address corrections and item swaps are free at that stage. After dispatch the parcel is in the carrier network and the return process applies instead of cancellation.

What should I do if the frame arrives damaged or the fit is wrong?

Keep the packaging and photograph the frame before doing anything else, then contact us within 30 days of delivery. Transit damage and dispatch errors are corrected at our cost, including return postage. Fit problems are treated the same way when the measurements delivered differ from the measurements listed.

Which items are eligible for return?

Frames returned unworn, with the demo lens still in place and the case and cloth included, are accepted within 30 days. Frames that have been glazed, adjusted with heat by a third party, or worn outdoors cannot be resold and are excluded unless they arrived faulty.

Are frames covered against manufacturing faults?

Yes. Loose hinges, defective solder joints, failing nose pads and coating defects present from new are handled under the manufacturer warranty, and we manage the claim for you. Scratches from cleaning with tissue, bent temples from sitting on the frame, and lens damage after glazing are wear rather than fault.

Why do two listings of the same model show different prices?

Colourways and sizes are separate listings, and promotional pricing runs on individual listings rather than whole ranges. The price on the product page applies to exactly that model, colour code and size, so compare the specification line before comparing the number.

Full delivery and return conditions are on our Returns & Shipping page.

Still stuck?
