This modified rectangular frame is constructed from plant-based resin derived from castor bean oil—a renewable, highly resilient alternative to standard petroleum-based plastics. Available in three gradient colorations—Tortoise Gradient, Pink Gradient, and Grey Gradient—the MC4512 features a two-tone design that adds visual depth and sophistication. The full-rim construction provides excellent durability and works well with a wide range of prescription strengths, including single vision, progressive, and bifocal lenses. With a 54mm lens width, 17mm bridge, and 140mm temple length, these frames offer a large fit suitable for most adults.
McAllister’s plant-based resin frames contain at least 45% bio-based material sourced from castor beans. Castor plants thrive in harsh, arid conditions where few other crops can grow, making them a sustainable choice that doesn’t compete with food production. The oil is pressed from the beans, formed into pellets, then melted and injected into frames—creating eyewear that’s strong, lightweight, and comfortable for all-day wear. This material reduces reliance on fossil fuels while delivering the same performance you’d expect from traditional plastics.
