The Maui Jim KIPAHULU MJ279 sunglasses bring together performance-driven design and the brand’s legendary PolarizedPlus2 lens technology in a versatile wrap frame. Named after the Kipahulu district of Maui’s Haleakala National Park—a region known for its dramatic waterfalls and ocean vistas—these sunglasses deliver the same premium clarity and vibrant view that the Hawaiian landscape demands.
Every pair features Maui Jim’s patented PolarizedPlus2 lens technology, which eliminates 99.9% of glare and blocks 100% of harmful UV rays while enhancing reds, greens, and blues for richer color and sharper contrast. The HCL (High Contrast Lens) Bronze lenses offer exceptional versatility in changing light conditions, from full sun to overcast skies, with a warm tint ideal for driving and water sports. The SuperThin Glass lens material is significantly thinner and lighter than standard glass, delivering the absolute crispest optics available along with superior scratch and solvent resistance.
The KIPAHULU features a modified rectangular wrap design that comfortably contours to the face, providing optimal protection from sun, wind, and glare. The lightweight, durable nylon frame is built with embedded rubber nose pads and rubberized temple tips for a secure, comfortable fit even during intense activity. Anti-corrosive spring hinges offer flexibility and a customized fit across various face shapes and sizes—perfect for saltwater environments and outdoor adventures. The frame is available in Matte Tortoise Rubber and Marlin finishes, both paired with HCL Bronze polarized lenses.
Measuring 59mm lens width, 19mm bridge, and 120mm temple length, the KIPAHULU fits average-width faces and is designed as a unisex style suitable for men and women. The saddle-style fixed bridge with embedded nose pads ensures all-day comfort whether you’re on the water, hitting the trails, or simply running errands. This model is also prescription-ready, with single vision and progressive lens options available through authorized Maui Jim retailers.
