The Maui Jim KIOPA’A MJ671 sunglasses bring a modern cat-eye silhouette to one of the most respected names in polarized eyewear. Designed with SuperThin Glass lenses and the brand’s patented PolarizedPlus2 technology, these frames deliver the optical clarity Maui Jim built its reputation on—now in a shape that flatters round, oval, and heart-shaped faces with equal ease.
Maui Jim started in 1987 on Ka’anapali beach in Lahaina, Maui, selling sunglasses that could handle the island’s intense glare and UV exposure. That need drove the development of PolarizedPlus2, a lens technology that goes beyond simple polarization. The lenses eliminate 99.9% of glare and block 100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays, but the real difference is in color. Maui Jim infuses each lens with a patented blend of three rare earth elements that enhance reds, greens, and blues, so the world looks more vivid—not just darker. Anti-reflective coatings on both sides of the lens eliminate bounce-back glare, and an oleophobic treatment sheds water, sunscreen, and smudges.
The KIOPA’A is built with SuperThin Glass, Maui Jim’s premium lens material. It’s 32% thinner and lighter than standard glass, which means less weight on your nose and temples, but it still delivers the absolute crispest optics the brand offers. Glass resists scratches better than any polymer, so these lenses stay clear season after season. Available lens colors include Neutral Grey for bright, direct sunlight; HCL Bronze for everyday variable conditions with a warm tint and excellent contrast; and Maui Rose, which offers the highest contrast available and works beautifully for fast-moving activities.
The frame measures 54mm lens width, 19mm bridge, and 140mm temples—a medium fit that works for most face widths. The cat-eye shape adds definition to round faces, complements the natural angles of oval and heart-shaped faces, and draws attention upward to the eyes and cheekbones. The nylon frame is lightweight and durable, with Maui Jim’s signature script logo on the temples and the brand’s wavy pattern on the temple tips. Spring hinges provide flex and a secure, comfortable fit. The frame is available in four finishes: Shiny Black with Neutral Grey lenses, Matte Cyclamen (pink) with HCL Bronze, Matte Dark Havana tortoise with HCL Bronze, and Shiny Transparent Pink with Maui Rose lenses.
