The Smith Westward sunglasses bring classic round styling into the modern era. These unisex frames feature a tortoise acetate finish with clean lines and a 4-base lens curvature that sits comfortably between flat everyday wear and performance wrap styles. The SMITH wordmark on the temples is the only branding—understated and confident.
Smith’s ChromaPop lenses do something most sunglasses don’t: they filter out the specific wavelengths where your eye struggles to distinguish color. By blocking the crossover points at 480nm (blue-green) and 580nm (green-red), ChromaPop delivers sharper definition and more natural color. Greens look greener, blues deeper, and you’ll spot details in shadows or variable light that standard lenses wash out. Available in both polarized and non-polarized versions, the lenses also feature smudge- and moisture-resistant coatings for easy cleaning.
Polarized options cut glare from water, pavement, and windshields—useful for driving, fishing, or any time reflected light becomes a distraction. All lenses provide full UV protection.
The Westward frames are made from Smith’s Evolve material, a bio-based polymer derived from renewable castor plants (53% bio-content). It’s lightweight, durable, and part of what Smith calls the largest eco-friendly sunglass collection in the world. The frames have a medium fit with small coverage—not oversized, not tight. Adjustable corewire temples let you dial in the fit behind your ears, and Megol rubber nose pads grip without slipping when you sweat.
The round shape works across face shapes and doesn’t skew masculine or feminine. Reviewers note they transition easily from coffee shops to trail rides to travel days. One mountain biker wrote they fit smoothly under helmets without pressure points, and the rubber nose bridge keeps them stable on rough terrain.
“They strike a really good balance, they are versatile enough for trail rides but still stylish and comfortable for everything else.” — Women’s MTB Network
These sunglasses are prescription-ready. You can add single-vision, progressive, or bifocal lenses through our in-house lab. The frame’s 4-base curvature and full-rim construction accommodate most prescriptions without optical distortion.
If you want one pair that handles daily wear, weekend adventures, and everything in between, the Westward delivers. They’re not built for high-speed cycling or extreme sports (Smith makes dedicated performance frames for that), but for everyday versatility and genuine optical quality, they’re hard to beat.
